Mecca - A Social Browser for Mac OS X Leopard
Interesting new browser (and name!). It´s still not out but from the feature set it looks promising, and it´s also nice that it´s especially made for Cocoa and with an Apple-like UI.
It reminds me strangely of Coda, since they break an old “Unix trend” of small programs which do a specific task, and combine a lot of programs in one window.
I like the coverflow of tabs (I guess) but other than that my 24” screen is perfectly capable of showing more program windows besides my browser. Mecca may get passed up on like Flock but then again it is rather based on Safari´s WebKit which is all the rage right now.

“The Application Center—we’re running out of variants of the term “application store!”—is set to debut with the BlackBerry Storm software version 4.7.” —

CrunchGear  » Archive  » The BlackBerry Application Center is RIM’s answer to the iPhone App Store

Of course it´s the natural evolution for all handset manufacturers, but it´s strange that it takes newcomer Apple to push the others to develop their far older platforms. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ? Well, it is still a bit embarassing to see the giants clone Apple products (eg. mindless rip-offs like this).

Joongel, Internet The Easy Way -

Hm.. a search aggregator that actually seems to work (also UI wise). I especially like it when searching for images to use.

Adobe is trying to make Apple look bad. For example, Adobe says “hey we got a player working just fine!” but they don’t admit that the player is as bloated as it normally is and only works in the emulator because the emulator has the power of the PC it’s running on behind it, but the iPhone chip isn’t beefy enough to take it.

Adobe will gamble that their claim is well received, and that Apple’s counter claim will not be well crafted enough to counter this, and opinion over the Flash player will tip further towards Apple being the bad guys here.

Adobe official confirms Flash for the iPhone, says Apple will decide when - iPhone Atlas

Well commented. Plus Mobile Safari works just fine without Flash me thinks. I don´t see Apple, which is so “experience” centric, leaving all control to Adobe and Flash developers.

Norwegian car “Th!nk” and Al Gore on New York Times Magazine cover (via Slashdot). I really hope spitting some more money into Th!nk will speed up the R&D and actually get the cars marketed. Shame about the look though.

Hack Your Apple TV With Boxee -

Cool frontend for Apple TV based on XBMC which is also available for Linux and Mac OS X. Still needs work but absolutely a promising alternative to Apple´s standard frontend. Especially if you have a lot of non-iTunes media.
